I am writing The Event Strategy Playbook because, in my experience, great events are not built on novelty or scale. They are built on fundamentals.

Simple things. Often overlooked things.

Knowing everyone’s name. Not just the clients or VIPs, but the event staff, bartenders, servers, dishwashers, and technicians. The people doing the work that makes the room function. The phrase “I’m not good with names” should never leave your mouth. It has never made anyone feel better. No matter how senior you are, learn the names.

I believe anyone who wants to lead events should spend time on the floor. Bus tables. Wash dishes. Pour wine. Carry plates. See how the room actually moves.

A week working in a restaurant will teach you more about flow, timing, pressure, and human dynamics than any strategy deck ever could. You earn real credibility when no job is beneath you and when your team knows it.

This is not radical thinking. It is old school. Dale Carnegie level basics with immeasurable results.

When you lead by example, people feel it. When you respect the work, the work gets better. When the foundation is solid, everything built on top of it holds.

That is what The Event Strategy Playbook is about. Not trends. Not shortcuts. Simple, disciplined practices that consistently create great experiences.
